Why choose this course?
If your earlier studies in music are not sufficient for entry into an undergraduate degree program, this course will help you bridge the knowledge gap. It is an intensive one-year performance program that focuses on the development of the musical skills and theoretical knowledge required for the Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance.
The course covers:
- Theory/Harmony (JMI has a unique way of teaching theory, which is hands-on and applied to song form)
- Ensemble
- Reading (learn to read music)
- Aural
- Principal Study (one on one private lessons)
- Music Industry
- Improvisation
Students who successfully fulfill the requirements of the Diploma will be eligible to gain up to 120 credit points toward the degree course, subject to audition.
THIS COURSE IS VET FEE-HELP APPROVED – VET FEE-HELP is a loan scheme that assists eligible fee paying students enrolled at Jazz Music Institute to pay their tuition fees. VET FEE-HELP can cover all or part of a student’s tuition fees.
Over their lifetime, a student may borrow through VET FEE-HELP an amount up to the VET FEE-HELP limit to pay their tuition fees. For more information, visit:

Successful completion of Jazz Music Institute’s Certificate IV in Music Performance (Jazz)
