Tabla Workshop with Ravikesh Singh – 29/3/25

Join us at JMI for a special workshop open to all musicians, led by virtuosic tabla musician Ravikesh Singh!

In this workshop, Ravi will explore the fundamentals of Indian classical music, and how you can creatively apply these fundamentals to your own musical endeavours, regardless of the genre of music. This tabla workshop will include:

  1. The basic notes of the tabla
  2. Indian taals in different time signatures
  3. Cross rhythms
  4. Tihais (polyrhythms)
  5. Tabla compositions which drummers can use for their solos
  6. How to compose using different taals
  7. Q&A (about tabla and how to use the repertoire in their own music)
