Join Mason as he embarks on an ouroboric journey through his musical life, past, present, and future. Buckle in for what will be a wild and exciting night of music with the Mason Harvey Quintet! Mason is an up-and-coming saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and bandleader, based in Brisbane. Inspired by the likes of Patrick Bartley, John Coltrane, and Sonny Rollins, he brings a strong sense of style to his playing, along with a massive sound. After graduating from JMI in 2025, Mason has spent time connecting with himself and his roots, and now he has come to share them in a slightly unorthodox fashion.
Formed in his second year at JMI, the Mason Harvey Quintet began out of Mason’s love of Hard-Bop quintets of the 50’s, 60’s, and the modern day. The ethos of the ensemble looks to the past in order to push music forward, valuing creativity, spontaneity, and swing above all else. Over time, it has expanded into a creative outlet for him and his closest musical collaborators to express adventurous ideas in a way that is accessible for anyone to listen to.
Joining Mason is an all-star selection of JMI alumni, some of the most notable young musicians active in the Brisbane jazz scene.

Tickets are being sold through Humanitix. Purchase limited seated tickets here. Due to JMI Live being an intimate space, we have a maximum number of guests allowed in the venue. We highly recommend it is best to get in early before tickets sell out.
What is JMI Live?
JMI Live presents live jazz in Brisbane every Thursday night from 8pm and a jam session after each gig. JMI Live is renowned for its intimate setting, providing the best opportunity to listen to live jazz in Brisbane. Just like a jazz club in New York, this venue is the ideal location for great jazz music, acoustics and atmosphere.

Ticket Refund Policy
If you are experiencing flu-like symptoms and are unable to attend after having purchased a ticket, please contact the JMI office (07 3216 1110 or email play@jazz.qld.edu.au) as soon as possible during business hours (10AM-4PM) to let us know you won’t be able to attend. A full refund will be given if we are contacted prior to a performance. Refunds will not be processed if we are contacted after the gig.
