Andy Gander is an Australian drummer with a live and studio background that covers various musical styles, particularly jazz, Latin, rock and funk. He has performed in a wide range of settings all over the World with many great Australian and international artists including Ernie Watts, Larry Coryell, Harry Connick, Jim McNeely, Jim Pugh, Joe Pass, John McLaughlin, Johnny Griffin, Kenny Kirkland, Kenny Wheeler, Bobby Shew, Mark Murphy, Michael Brecker, Ray Brown, Guy Strazzullo, Joe Chindamo, Dale Barlow, James Muller, Steve McKenna, Carl Orr, Daryl Pratt, Paul Grabowsky, Steve Hunter, Vince Jones and many others. He is interested in polyrhythms and their application to the drums in jazz and contemporary groove-based music.
He is an active educator and clinician and holds a Masters Degree from Melbourne University.
A devoted student, Andy is also an accomplished educator/clinician who has incorporated his own musical studies and gigging experience with formalised academic research. He is an active educator and clinician and holds a Masters Degree from Melbourne University and a PhD. from Sydney University.
