Co-hosted by Brisbane International Jazz Festival
Kellee Green is a jazz pianist, composer and teacher from Magan-djin (Brisbane) and has been performing regularly since the age of 14. In recent years, she has performed at the 2023 and 2024 Brisbane International Jazz Festivals and is the regular pianist for the Andrew Butt Trio+. This group launched their third album, Peregian, as part of the BIJF in October 2024.
Her debut album, Home, with Samuel Vincent (bass), John Parker (drums), Andrew Butt (saxophones) and Kristin Berardi (vocals) was released in March 2025. The title track of this album received Highly Commended at the 2022 Queensland Music Awards in the Jazz category, and the single, River to Sea, won the Jazz QMA in 2025.
John Parker and Samuel Vincent are perhaps best known recently for their work in the renowned jazz trio Trichotomy, one of Australia’s most inventive contemporary music ensembles. With a 20-year history of performing together and shows around the world in Japan, China, UK, Europe, Canada, South America the group have worked with dance companies, jazz, classical and pop artists, showcasing their versatility and captivating sound. Their most recent album, Iridescence, with singer/guitarist Danny Widdicombe, was released to national acclaim. John and Sam are both compelling performers and, with such a long musical history together, the musical interplay between them is fascinating to watch and listen to.
Kellee, John and Samuel will be joined for a few tunes by Unladylike Big Band members Cassie Whitehead (saxophone), Ange Santamaria (trombone) and Megan Harmston (trumpet).
The support act for this event is The Unladylike Lab – an ensemble of female/genderqueer high school students – as a culmination of their two jazz workshops with Gemma Farrell, Cassie, Ange and Kellee.
