CERTIFICATES III AND IV IN MUSIC FOR SENIOR HIGHSCHOOL STUDENTS
Interested in studying a Bachelor of Music after you leave school?
The Certificates III and IV will prepare you for tertiary studies in music as well as give eight credits towards your QCE (Queensland Certificate of Education), which may have a positive effect on your OP. Both programs require 30 weeks of two hour class-time, which is conducted at the JMI campus.
The certificate courses are highly practical and taught in a holistic manner. Through this performance-based learning, you will acquire the fundamentals of:
- Theory/Harmony (JMI has a unique way of teaching theory, which is hands-on and directly applied to song form)
- Reading (learn to read music)
Lessons are conducted in a small performing ensemble setting of five to eight students per class. These courses are held at JMI on Wednesdays afternoons during the school terms.
Interview and audition for Certificates III and IV.
Students will be assessed on a combination of written, practical performance and presentation of on -going work books.
This is an excellent course for students who wish to enjoy performing music and want to know how it is constructed. This course will provide thorough knowledge for advancement to tertiary music courses.
