Charlotte Mclean Quartet will be performing again at JMI Live in October. Charlotte sings with honesty, strength and a unique combination of musical influences. With fearless improvisation and heartfelt lyrics she produces her own addictive style, and her original jazz tunes have garnered critical and popular acclaim.
Charlotte is heavily influenced by jazz instrumentalists by the likes of Art Pepper, Sonny Rollins, Hank Mobley and Wes Montgomery. She is also deeply connected to the jazz and blues music of traditional vocalists such as Nina Simone, Carmen McRae and Cecile Mclorin Salvant. While being deep-rooted in the history of jazz, Charlotte writes and improvises with a modern sound with Bluegrass, Pop and R&B influences, allowing her to put a fresh spin on jazz repertoire.
Charlotte will be joined by Bruce Woodward (Guitar), Luke McIntosh (Bass) and Aaron Jansz (Drums). This is not a show to be missed!
“A captivating live performer, Charlotte Mclean’s rapport with both the band and her audience is exceptional. Whether singing her own well-crafted compositions or interpreting the works of greats such as Ellington and Porter, Charlotte pilots every song into her own musical universe with style and finesse.
