Two of Australia’s jazz powerhouses visited JMI last month to conduct workshops and play at The Turnaround Jazz Club.
Australia’s leading bassists for over 25 years and renowned guitarist Steve Brien, both from the Sydney Conservatorium, were impressed by our high standard of jazz education.
Steve Brien said: “I was thrilled to hear the students’ playing using the jazz language that forms the basis of the whole tradition of jazz extemporisation, and demonstrating that they understood not only the mechanics of how to apply it, but also the necessity of its application in order to sound like jazz players.”
Students benefited from the Craig and Steve’s honest feedback and watching the two play in what can be only described as an epic gig at The Turnaround.
