Auditions will soon be held for places in the world’s only dedicated jazz music Bachelor degree offered by a private institution.
Jazz Music Institute (JMI) will be auditioning for the 2012 intake of the three year, fully accredited, Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance.
The auditions will be held at your convenience by appointment from the following dates:
- Week of the 26th of September 2011 to the week of the 17th of January 2012.
Chief Executive Officer of JMI, Greg Quigley said: “So far we have received many enquiries about the Bachelor program and a major concern of prospective students is whether they will be assessed on their improvisation ability during their audition.
“While our emphasis here at JMI is on improvisation, we do not expect a high level improvisational ability before a student commences the course.
“We assess those who audition on their musicality and ability to play their instrument.”
Last year JMI ran free pre-audition interviews to let applicants know what to expect in the audition process. Due to its success, JMI will be offering this free service again to ensure that those musicians who want it the most, pass the audition, and secure their spot in the class of 2012.
